OUR HISTORY

In 2005 Pastor Maurice Chavez, became the third Pastor of Phoenix Inner City Church. His leadership style is different than the two men before him. He brings a strong sense of discipleship and teaching to the lives who are yet growing and learning in the inner city.

His first year was a year of establishing a new foundation and restrengthening the church. In January of 2006 the church voted to change the name of the church from Phoenix Inner City Church to Phoenix World Outreach, which brings a sense of change and strength for the coming destiny of this church.

Since 2006, we have had many people make this their church home and we have done our best to make everyone we encounter feel love and accepted.

In 2014, we were given the opportunity to acquire a Spanish congregation from a church called Revive. This was something that has always been a desire of Pastor Maurice and Rose Chavez as they have always wanted to reach as many people as they can regardless of what language they spoke. However, at the time, Pastor Maurice only knew how to speak a few words in Spanish, but he didn't let that hinder the decision in merging churches. Instead, he worked very hard to learn their language to be able to communicate with them and he is now fluent in Spanish.

Since then, we have indeed become a multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-aged church community. Through all of these changes though, our heart and vision remained the same; to Love God, Love people.

In 2019, we officially changed our name to Equip Church to better describe what we as a church have been doing all of these years; equipping people to know God and how to make Him known to others.
